<<Il pappagallo dell’anziana signora Jones non parlava da quando lei lo aveva comperato venti anni prima. Un giorno la donna, non avendo più semi per pappagallo, gli do un vecchio pezzo di lattuga che trova nel frigorifero.

Il pappagallo la mangia e poi commenta: “Questa lattuga è marcia”.

La signora Jones lo guarda stupita e dice: “Sei capace di parlare! Perché non hai mai parlato per vent’anni?”.

“Perché avrei dovuto? – chiede il pappagallo. – Sono sempre stato soddisfatto del cibo che mi davi”>>

<<Old Mrs Jones’ parrot hadn’t said a word since she bought it twenty years earlier. One day she had run out of parrot seed and gave it a piece of very old lettuce she found in the fridge.

The parrot ate it and then commented, “this lettuce is off”.

Mrs Jones stared at the parrot and said, “You can talk! Why haven’t you talked for twenty years?”.
